Business Intelligence (BI) is a set of processes, tools and technologies that enable companies to collect, analyse and present valuable information from their business data. The goal of BI is to help companies make informed, strategic decisions through data analysis and the identification of patterns and trends.
The Business Intelligence process begins with the extraction of data from different sources, such as transactional databases, ERP systems, CRM, inventory management systems and social networks. This data is processed and stored in a data warehouse, where it can be analysed and visualised using BI tools.
BI tools include dashboards, reports, visualisations and ad hoc analysis, which allow users to explore and understand data in real time. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are also increasingly used in BI to automate the analysis and identification of hidden patterns and trends in large data sets.
BI applications include sales analysis, market opportunity identification, profitability analysis, supply chain management, enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management.
