What is Rule-based systems?

Rule-based systems are artificial intelligence systems that use logical rules to process information and make decisions. These systems are designed to mimic the way humans make decisions based on a set of rules and prior knowledge. The rules are stated in an if-then format, where a condition (if) and an action to be taken (then) are stated. These rules can be simple or complex, and can be combined to form larger, more sophisticated systems. Rule-based systems are used in applications such as medical diagnostics, industrial process control and fraud detection.
