Narrow artificial intelligence

Concept and definition

Narrow artificial intelligence

What is Narrow artificial intelligence?

Narrow artificial intelligence, also known as weak artificial intelligence, refers to the application of machine learning and natural language processing techniques and algorithms to perform specific tasks in an automated manner. Unlike general artificial intelligence, which seeks to develop a machine that can learn and perform any intellectual task that a human being can do, narrow artificial intelligence focuses on specific tasks, such as pattern identification, image recognition, language translation and decision making under limited conditions. Narrow artificial intelligence is the most commonly used type of artificial intelligence today and can be found in a wide variety of applications, such as chatbots, virtual assistants, recommender systems and autonomous vehicles.
